A flower in my coffee: Amsterdam guide

Only in Amsterdam for a short periode of time? Where should you go? There are so many great places to visit in Amsterdam. So many beautiful buildings, cafés and unique spots to indulge. Here are some of my recommendations when you need that little something extra to pick you up:

Places to stop for a latte or a bite of food

Pluk
Get the Doctor Fruit and Pineapple Dream / juices. The idea of having a seating area in the second floor visible for everyone in the first floor really makes this place special. I found Amsterdam having several variations of this certain style, but this one in particular stood out to me. The colors were beautiful.

Vinnies
Want to know my favorite spot to get a latte and eat lunch? Right here – Vinnies. It was the first café we visited and the last one we went to before we left. It’s located close to where we stayed and in such a beautiful street close to the canals and small boutiques. If you’re ever around, make sure to try out their Latte, oatmeal porridge, overnight oats or their baba ghanoush sandwich! I love the look and design of this café. The vibe was great and the menu even better. What a wonderful place to sit down, breathe and just relax for a bit.

Green House Kitchen
Get their seasonal soup (carrot and coconut cream), shrimp croquettes with bagna couda and fried parsley and mushroom flan with green cabbage, smoked tomato and roasted nuts. It’s been a while since I’ve had anything this good for dinner at a restaurant. I will have to try to make it at home. Let’s see how that goes. Make sure to book one of the tables by the window. Such a nice place to watch the world go by. It’s always nice to have a beautiful view.

Ashoka
We fancied Indian food and went to TripAdvisor for help. Ashoka is rated as one of the best Indian restaurants in the city.  We gave it a shot and it was well worth it! Spicy yet wonderful. Get their fish curry and mixed vegetables! If you’re like me and don’t do well with really spicy food make sure to go for mild or mild -. Let your senses wander, it’s worth a try.

Ivy & bros
As mentioned in my diary from Amsterdam, I only started liking coffee on this trip. I get so fascinated by baristas and how they make the art of a good cup of coffee seem so easy. Now that I myself work at a café, let me tell you, I know how tricky that coffee art thing can be. We only stopped by here for a short break to get something to drink but I’m sure their food tastes just as amazing. Get their latte and freshly squeezed orange juice!

Pancakes Amsterdam
Well what can I say? Try any pancake with strawberries!
Berenstraat 38
